Who we are

Little Disciples Learning Academy is a live online Christian preschool operating from Texas, United States. We teach children aged 2.5 to 6 over Zoom. In this policy “we” means Little Disciples Learning Academy and “you” means the parent or guardian who enrols a child.

You can reach us any time at ldlapreschool@gmail.com or +1-469-608-9422. A person reads that inbox.

Children under 13, and how consent works here

Our classes are for children under 13, so the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act applies to us. We take that seriously and the short version is this: a child cannot create an account, and we never collect anything from a child directly. Everything we hold about a child was given to us by their parent.

When you enrol, you tell us your child’s first name, last name and date of birth, and you complete the signup with a payment card in your own name. That combination — an account created by an adult and a card transaction — is how we verify that the person consenting is the parent, and it is one of the methods the Federal Trade Commission recognises for verifiable parental consent.

We use your child’s information only to run their classes: placing them in the right age group, greeting them by name, marking the register, and letting their teacher write notes about how they are getting on. We do not sell it, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use it to build advertising audiences.

You can review what we hold about your child, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it at any time — and you can refuse to let us keep collecting it while still discussing your enrolment with us. Email us and we will do it. Deleting a child’s information ends their enrolment, because we cannot run a class for a child we hold no record of.

What we collect

About you. Your name, email address, phone number, and the city and state you live in. We ask for city and state so we can say your class times in a way that makes sense where you are, and so we know which parts of the country our families come from.

About your child. First and last name, date of birth, and — only if you choose to add one — a photograph. The date of birth decides which class they join and lets their teacher wish them a happy birthday. The photograph is entirely optional and exists so a teacher meeting fifteen children on a screen can put a name to a face.

About their classes. Which days and times they are enrolled for, whether they attended, and notes their teacher writes about their progress. Some notes are shared with you; some are kept for staff only, the way a classroom teacher keeps their own record.

About your billing. Which plan you are on, when your free week ends, and whether payments succeeded. We never see or store your full card number. Your card is held by Stripe, our payment processor; we keep only the last four digits and the card brand so you can tell which card is on file.

In class. Classes run on Zoom, so your child’s camera and microphone are part of the lesson. See the class recording section below.

Who else sees it

We keep the list of companies involved as short as we can. Each one only receives what it needs to do its job, and none of them are permitted to use your information for their own purposes.

  • Supabase hosts our database and handles signing in. Your account and your child’s record live here.
  • Stripe processes payments and holds your card.
  • Resend delivers our emails to you.
  • Zoom carries the live classes.
  • Google and Meta receive advertising and analytics data only from our public marketing pages, and only if you agree to it in the cookie banner. See the next section.

We will also disclose information if the law requires it, or where we believe in good faith that it is necessary to protect a child from harm.

Advertising, and where it is switched off

We advertise to parents on Facebook and Google. Those platforms let us reach adults who may be looking for preschool — we are advertising to grown-ups, not to children, and we never build an advertising audience out of anything a child does.

Advertising and analytics tags run only on our public pages, and only after you accept them. They are switched off entirely on every page you have to sign in to reach — your dashboard, the teaching portal, sign-in and password pages. Your child’s name, class and birthday appear on those pages, and no advertising network should learn them because you happened to open your dashboard.

If you decline, nothing from Google or Meta loads at all. You can change your mind any time from the cookie policy.

Class recordings

We do not record classes for publication, and we will never post a recognisable image or recording of your child publicly — on social media, in an advertisement, or on this site — without asking you first, in writing, for that specific use.

If a class is ever recorded for a reason such as safeguarding or teacher training, the teacher will say so at the start of the class, and you may keep your child’s camera off without any effect on their place.

How long we keep things

We keep a child’s information only while it is needed for the purpose it was given for, which in practice means while they are enrolled and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you come back.

If an enrolment ends and is not resumed, we delete the child’s record — including any photograph, attendance history and teacher notes — within twelve months, unless you ask us to keep it or the law requires otherwise. We keep billing records longer, because tax rules require it, but those are records of payments and do not include your child’s photograph or teacher notes.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you may ask us to show you what we hold, correct anything wrong, delete it, or send you a copy. Depending on your state — Texas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and others have their own privacy laws — you may also have the right to opt out of targeted advertising and to appeal if we refuse a request.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising beyond the marketing-page cookies described above, which you control.

To exercise any of this, email us. We will not make you fill in a form or charge you, and we will answer within 45 days.

Security

Every page is served over HTTPS. Access to family records is restricted at the database level, so a parent can only ever read their own child’s record, and a teacher can only read records for children in classes they actually teach. Passwords are hashed and we cannot see them.

No system is perfect. If a breach ever affects your family’s information, we will tell you promptly and plainly, and say exactly what was involved.

Changes

If we change how we use your information in a way that matters, we will email you rather than quietly changing this page. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
